Company Pension

A company pension refers to an employer-sponsored retirement plan designed to provide additional protection to supplement the state pension system. Such occupational pension commitments may be established through unilateral declarations by the employer, through an employment contract, or through collective bargaining agreements. In this context, the employer commits to making contributions to pension funds, providing benefits directly to employees, or paying premiums for life insurance policies. A distinction is made between defined-contribution and defined-benefit plans.
