Progression
What is progression?
Progression refers to the increase in the income tax rate as a function of the level of annual income. This means that the higher the income, the higher the income tax rate. The income tax rate is therefore progressive. Up to an annual income of EUR 11,000, the income tax rate is 0 per cent. Income in excess of EUR 60,000 per annum is subject to an income tax rate of 50 per cent. In contrast, the corporation tax rate is always the same; regardless of how high a company’s income is, the corporation tax rate is therefore always 25 per cent; the entry-level and marginal tax rates are thus identical under corporation tax law (this is also referred to as a flat tax).
